On March 18, 2026, Prof. Hiroaki Kitagishi of Doshisha University delivered an invited lecture at the National Research Institute of Fire and Disaster, Fire and Disaster Management College.
The lecture addressed the current challenges of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning, the leading cause of death at fire scenes, and introduced the latest research findings on hemoCD. Particular attention was given to its potential as the first chemical antidote that can be administered immediately in the field, expanding opportunities for intervention in fire and emergency medicine.
Our center will continue strengthening collaboration with professionals in firefighting, emergency response, and disaster medicine while addressing practical challenges toward social implementation.
